You know that good nutrition contributes to the well-being of the whole person in, mind, body and spirit. Donors fund programming by a Registered Dietician who helps tenants to develop and maintain healthier choices. Through nutritional counselling and education, tenants learn skills in grocery shopping and cooking.
Donations also facilitate staff run educational workshops related to physical, mental health and wellness. One example of this is the Diabetes Dialogue group discussions, attended by 25 people each year. Participants say learning to manage their diabetes has reduced the number of trips to hospital emergency rooms, and improved their daily lives.
I’ve cut back on fast foods quite a bit. I just don’t feel I need it, reported by Aleks, AIS Tenant.
