You know that good nutrition contributes to the well-being of the whole person in, mind, body and spirit. Donors fund programming by a Registered Dietician who helps tenants to develop and maintain healthier choices. Through nutritional counselling and education, tenants learn skills in grocery shopping and cooking.
Donations also facilitate staff run educational workshops related to physical, mental health and wellness. One example of this is the Diabetes Dialogue group discussions, attended by 25 people each year. Participants say learning to manage their diabetes has reduced the number of trips to their physicians due to a medical crisis, and improved their daily lives.
“Diabetes Dialogue has helped me with grocery shopping and with healthy eating. This has helped manage my illness and diabetes.” AIS Tenant
“I’ve cut back on fast foods quite a bit. I just don’t feel I need it.” — reported by Alex, AIS Tenant.
